About this collection
Melons and their stranger cousins on the vine. A charentais, a honeydew, and a moon and stars watermelon open the set, then it wanders to kiwano, bitter melon, snake gourd, and a turks turban squash, all labeled in script italic with their Latin binomials.
The warm white ground keeps them looking like seed-catalog plates; the deep black one makes the netted rinds and pale flesh look carved from the dark. Hang them near the stove, in a canning pantry, or on a screened porch.
The moon and stars is the conversation starter - a dark-rinded watermelon speckled yellow like a night sky. Pair it with the charentais for contrast.
